Delving a little deeper into a work of fiction led one literature professor and his students on a path toward a historic discovery. This fall, Gregg Hecimovich, chairman of the English Department at Winthrop University, and graduate students in his "Slave Narratives and the Novel" class explored a novel about a fugitive slave in an effort to determine the author's identity. ....
